Squirrels & Lunch Go Together in Grand Rapids Michigan

Squirrels and Lunch go together at our house....breakfast and dinner, too.

Mainly because our bird feeder is right outside our dining room window.

This particular squirrel is a favorite dining companion, she shows up every day like clockwork,

rain or shine.

She likes to pose for close-ups - what a ham!

Although the food is exactly the same every day - FREE - she never complains.

Yes, we know it is a she because we can see her that closely!  She likes to keep an eye

on us in case we do something aggressive.  As in, open the window and knock her off the 

feeder.

Front Doors Say Hello When You Aren't Home

Front doors are the first impression that visitors and passersby get of your home. 

 We all make instant judgments about a home's interior when we see the front door,

just like we do about a person we first meet.  If you want to make a good first

impression, you should make sure your front door is attractive and welcoming.

I have a fascination with front doors.  I  drive by homes and look at the front door

or front entry.  I love to see a home with a touch of personality or a piece of artwork

displayed by the front  door that lets me know a little bit more about them.

Do they like animals?  Are they proud of their home? Does everything appear to be

in good repair?

This front door reminds me of castle. I saw several doorways similar to

this in England inside castle walls.

Holidays and seasonal decorating are especially fruitful for my voyeuristic entertainment. 

 I especially like the his and hers well-dressed scarecrows guarding this front door.

Observation in Grand Rapids, Michigan Parking Lot

We are so busy and distracted in our lives, we often walk right by things that

 are interesting or novel.  It just takes a moment to notice and  it can

certainly change your outlook and maybe.... make you smile. 

 We were in a store shopping for kitchen hardware for a new listing the other day.

  It was a cold, windy day and we were backing out of our parking spot, when we

noticed two little ones that had found a warm, safe place to sit for a few moments.

 Were the tires warm?

Are they looking for food ? 

We don't know the answers but it gave us a little different perspective on the day. 

We were inside a nice warm car with a nice warm lunch we had just finished.  These two little

sparrows were happy to find a temporary shelter hoping to glean a crumb or two from

people coming and going in the  parking lot. The natural world is just a glance away.
