Sometimes you need to take a detour. Not one that is forced on you, just one you decide to
take because it might get you somewhere you haven't been before. That is just what we
did last week on our trip home from Traverse City. After being on the expressway for about an
hour, we took the exit that said Diamond Lake. We traveled down this unpaved road looking
for the public access to Diamond Lake. After about 2-3 miles of winding roads, we discovered
the park was closed for the season. We never got to see Diamond Lake.
But we weren't disappointed.
Our road to discovery led us down this scenic county road that was a little slice of rural Michigan.

Michigan certainly has some wonderful sights and smells this time of year.
Edward: Thanks for stopping by it is a nice time of year except this year has been so cold.
That is really an awesome picture. I wish I had made the trip down that road with you.
Beautiful, Terry! On our drive through Michigan in June, we never made it off the major highways. Next time, perhaps we'll set aside an hour or two to explore a little.
Bob: We all need to slow down and see nature at a slower speed.
Margaret: Next time your here stop by we'll give you the local tour.
That is a beautiful photograph! It is good to get off the beaten path once in a while!
Hi Terry,
What a beautiful photo! Lovely scenic road. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Chris
Tony and Darcy: It is much easier to take the expressway. Good reason to try another route.
Chris: Lots of photo opportunities this time of the year.
Terry - we call this 'taking the scenic route". It is always so much fun! Makes me want to get out and do exactly that this weekend. Thanks!
Anna: The rules are no maps and no GPS just go out and get lost. Have fun.
