The Ottawa Hills neighborhood in Grand Rapids has had major construction
going on all winter. The new Christian Elementary School is going up
on the old Ottawa Hills Middle School campus. You can read about the
beginning phases on an earlier blog. This campus will serve a large area
and is eagerly anticipated. It is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2010.
We took a few new photos so you can see how it is shaping up.
We could hear the air hammers working away inside.
Lots of machinery and building equipment in evidence.
The view from the northwest corner of the lot, near Alexander Dr. SE
The former playground was kept intact and their is plenty of open space.
This new facility will be located at: 1501 Fisk St SE

Looks like it will be quite large when finished... Keep us posted...
Hi Terry and Bonnie,
Always nice to see something new like a school going up to serve the citizens of an area. Construction is tough in the warmer months. Must be really more difficult in the cold though. Thankfully I will stay in real estate and leave the more physical and cold work to others. :-)
Terry & Bonnie, That is cool that the new school is nearing completion, it is a good thing that new schools are being built.
What a great addition to your neighborhood, and the community :)

Oh, Terry - I LOVE seeing new school being built! Just helps me to know that overcrowding (a problem here) is being addressed. We have quite a few schools here but it never seems to be enough.
Great to see building even in the snow!
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Caron, We have been watching the progress and think this will do a lot to help property values in the neighborhood.
William, The did get it enclosed before the most of the snow came so they can work on the inside during the Winter months.
Tony, The old school needed to be replaced. It is a great addition to the neighborhood.
Leesa, We have had a few schools close but as the economy improves the demand will increase.
Charles, We build all year log here it is just more comfortable in the rest of the year.
Terry and Bonnie, looks like you folks have a bit of the white stuff on the ground, too! We are such babies about it here!
That is looking good and are they leasing the land or did they buy it from the public school district?

Terry, It is nice to see the School progressing so nicely. Teh Christian schools in my area are struggling right now. We are hoping that will change soon before they start to disappear.
Patricia, We are just used to it and have the equipment to deal with it. A few inches is just a normal day.
Todd, I think they bought it.
William, The Christian schools have great support here and seem to be doing OK.
Debi, It is being built in an area that has been a strong community for many years. It can only make it better.
