When you live in a cold climate, the winters are long.
We find our amusements in our backyard. We have a feeder for the birds.
We enjoy watching them up close.
We have several other neighbors who like our feeder, too.
They are always looking for a free lunch, free breakfast, free snack.
It becomes a part time job to keep them away from the black
gold known as sunflower seeds.
If startled, the moochers will fly into the air and land with a thud!
It is about 14 feet to the ground.
We will show “The Moocher” in his dare-devil Olympic Class maneuvers……
The Time Trials Begin: How fast can we chase him away?
A few more Seeds before the Actual Events Begin.
Checking out the competition.
Hang Time.
The Clock Starts.
Slippery Conditions on the Vertical Planes.
Great Footwork.
Great Form on the Jump Today.
Waiting for his score and the adulation of the crowd.

Cute squirrel, even tho it is a pest.
Great photos. Which country does this agile and deft athlete represent?
Hi Terry and Bonnie, What a wonderful and fun Photo Story. Now this is Photo Blogging and thank you for sharing this. It was entertaining and delightfully captured.
Hi Terrie - How fun this was to read - and well done! I too want to know which country he represents, and whether or not he won the Gold!?
Debi
Hi Terrie, I saw a device in our local Ace Hardware a while back as a way to keep squirrels out of bird feeder, you might want to do a YouTube search of Twirl-a-Squirrel for a laugh. Fun post.
Isn't it amazing what we humans will do to entertain ourselves:-) I have a yard full of those kind of squirrels. I also have an occassional grey squirrel come through. I prefer the grey squirrels, because the browninsh ones tend to want to gnaw on the roof, and the siding. They are little more than rats with bushy tails. . .LOL
Marlene, We complain but he is cute and adds to the entertainment.
Ron, He is a resident of the great Squirreltopian empire. They have been in training for centuries.
William, It is true entertainment to watch them try to get some food and avoid us.
Debi, He is quite good but to get Gold the needs better jumps just to stay on the Squirreltopian team.
Dan, We have too much fun with the current feeder don't want them to have to re-train on a new piece of equipment.
Myrl, I do enjoy watching them and a little extra seed for them is OK with me.
The 'Parade of Squirrels' in the opening ceremonies has always been one of my favorites. Nice sequence of pics, Terry!
Enjoyed this, Terry! Our squirrels seem to enjoy the top of the fence... I think the 3+ ft. snow must be too deep, even for them.
John, They do put on a good show.
Margaret, I think they like the snow here it cushions the fall when they jump.
Terry and Bonnie
I like watching the squirrels more than the birds; the squirrels can be very entertaining.
Tom, We have daily Squirrel competitions and so far they are winning.
What do you have inside that he wants so much? Do you own a peanut factory?

Todd, They do love the sunflower seeds and if we don't keep an eye on them they are there all day.
What great shots!
Debra: Glad you enjoyed we love to watch them.
