Summer is a magical time in Michigan, especially evenings.

They are  long and the light will last until almost ten o’clock.  Which is

great fun if you are a kid playing with your friends or an adult, enjoying the

last hours of a wonderful day.

This photo was taken on the summer solstice in 2010 at Glen Lake in

Northern Michigan at around 9 pm.  A perfect evening in a perfect place.

That’s Michigan summer.

It looks like something that should be in a magazine!  So peaceful & pristine!  It's amazing how late at night this was taken... Our sunsets are long gone by 9:00.

OH my goodness.  That is an astonishing scene.  I am surprised that it is not in some place like Hawaii or Florida!  Yet, I remember visiting my daughter and her husband when he was stationed on a SANG base near Lake St. Claire (near Detroit).  There was some pretty amazing sunsets while there, but nothing like your's.

Such a peaceful picture... Sad to think we are headed to the end of summer soon. Can we press pause?

Leigh Ann: Thanks for commenting, yes, our evenings are long here in Michigan, the better to appreciate sunsets like this one.

Myrl: This lake is a gem and our sunset was spectacular.  I have seen some great Hawaiian and Florida sunsets, too.  But Michigan sunsets are pretty special to us.  Thanks.
